Fun for the whole family! Start your Thanksgiving Day with an exhilarating 5K run/walk through Gruene Historic District. Kids under 12 years old will have a blast chasing a Turkey Mascot for a 1/4 mile through Gruene. Races begin and end in front of Gruene Hall. Benefiting local charities, including the Comal County Sheriff's Green Santa Program and the New Braunfels Police Department Blue Santa Program. The day after Thanksgiving, our river parade kicks off the holidays as decorated floats wind through the river in one of the country's only nighttime river parades. Enjoy the beauty of over a million lights illuminating the River Walk trees and bridges throughout the holiday season.
Nov 28 2014 to Jan 03 2015 Eisbahn Outdoor Ice Skating in Fredericksburg
For the tenth consecutive year, offering seasonal ice skating in the Texas Hill Country to raise funds for the Heritage School and Cystic Fibrosis. All day pass includes skate rental. Open daily but closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and closing at 2 pm on New Year’s Eve. $10 per person per day.Marktplatz, 100 block of W. Main St.
November 29th 6 pm - 9 pm Wimberely's 17th Annual Trail of Lights Tree Lighting and Opening Tree lighting
Stroll a walking path with more than 100 lighted exhibits created by local businesses, churches, organizations and families. Roast a marshmallow at the Yule Log and listen to live entertainment on most nights. Admission is free.
December 3rd - 6th 5 pm - 11 pm The 28th Annual Sights and Sounds of Christmas San Marcos Plaza Park.
This year's event features millions of lights along the San Marcos river. Attractions include two stages of musical entertainment from Kyle Park, Two Tons of Steel and more!. Enjoy two food courts, free arts and crafts for the kids, Santa's Gift Shop, carnival rides, pony rides, free petting zoo, laser show, Town of Bethlehem, free photos with Santa Claus and friends and a Ice Skating Rink! SANTA ARRIVALS: Santa arrives each night at 6:25pm by special transportation including helicopter, river boat, Harley Davidson motorcade and Pink Heals fire engine. 5K RUN: Run with Santa! Saturday morning at 9am there is a chip timed 5K and Kids 1K "Jingle Bell Run" starting and ending in San Marcos Plaza Park. Trophy awards follow both runs. Registration can me made thru event website.
MUSIC: Entertainment highlights this year include performances by local school children, choirs, dancers, and appearances by Kyle Park, Two Tons of Steel, David Ybarra, the PUBLIC Orchestra and so many more!
GENERAL ADMISSION: Sights and Sounds of Christmas offers free admission to children ages 12 and under. Admission for all others is $5 per night.
December 4th 6 - 9 p.m. Wassailfest New Braunfels!
An evening of music, fun food, great shopping, thousands of twinkling holiday lights and, of course - lots of free wassail for you to sample!
December 5th 3 pm - 10 pm Fredericksburg's Light The Night Christmas Parade
Parade excitement will begin at 6:30 pm with a holiday-themed and choreographed Laser Light Show. More than 130 entries, including bands, floats, animals and more, are expected to take part in the spectacle.The festival, which is free to the public and open from 3-10 pm on December 5, will include local foods, local wines, arts & crafts and family entertainment under the glow of the magnificent Christmas lights of Marktplatz. From 8 -10 p.m. Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will be available for free photos in his sleigh. There will be a children's activity area where youngsters can make free Christmas projects and play on the large inflatable slide.
DECEMBER 6th 10 am 13th Annual Gruene Pony Express Ride
Gruene Historic District will receive Pony Express riders from the Heritage Trail Ride Association of New Braunfels at 10:00 am. Relay riders carry a "Christmas Greetings" message from the Governor of Texas. A temporary post office will be set up next to Gruene Outfitters in Gruene to cancel stamps for mailing. Bring your Christmas cards to have the stamps cancelled with the 2014 commemorative stamp representing Gruene.

December 13th 5 -10 pm Winter's Eve - A Christmas Festival at WIMBERLEY SQUARE
Follow the lights to Wimberley for an old-timey festival with tents, food, and live music for the whole family. Santa arrives at six to hear wishes. Roving elves will distribute $1000 in Christmas Cash -- fun money to be accepted by participating merchants only on Winters Eve. A popular raffle includes many sought-after electronics. All shops will be open with treasures for your gift list. Restaurants and libations are all over the festival and at galleries that offer wine and snacks to visitors.
